Punjab kings register their second win, Punjab registered a good win against Mumbai Indians by nine wickets in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) match. The match was held at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday.
The toss was won by Punjab kings in the one-sided match. Mumbai Indians struggled to make runs in the opening overs of the match. The opening batsman Quinton De Kock (WK) lost his wicket soon. But, then captain Rohit Sharma with 63 runs and Suryakumar Yadav 33 borough a balance to the scoreboard with a partnership of 79 runs. However, after losing their wicket the consecutive batsmen were quick to lose their wickets giving a rough end to their batting innings.
In the second innings, the Punjab Kings were good at the batting end. The openers Mayank Agarwal with 25 runs and captain KL Rahul with 60* runs gave a swift start. Then Chris Gayle was back in style with 43* support the captain. They completed the target in style with 14 balls in hand.
Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul said after the match that the win boosted the confidence of their teams. Rohit Sharma said, “We didn’t have enough runs on the scoreboard.” He considers the batting performance as the reason behind their loss in the match. The match went into an exciting second over and Punjab kings or king XI Punjab then won the match.
Punjab kings have leapt up 2 positions now standing at the fifth position while the defending champions Mumbai Indians stand at the fourth position in the points table. The last time these two teams were on the field against each other, the match was extraordinary in every manner. The points table is led by Royal Challengers Bangalore at the top.
