Vaccination phase 3, The Indian government has announced the beginning of phase 3 of the vaccination drive. Everyone above the age of 18 shall be eligible for vaccination. The decision has been taken to tackle the rising covid-19 cases in the country that have registered a massive spike. Also, vaccine manufacturers can release 50% of their vaccine production directly to the state governments.
The Indian government has liberalised the vaccination drive by giving permissions to state government, private hospitals, industrial organisations to purchase vaccine doses from the manufacturing companies. While the other 50% of vaccine doses from the central drugs laboratory (CDL) to the central government. The decision is aimed to expand the scope of vaccination drive in India. The private manufacturers have to transparently declare the self-set price for the vaccine.
The decision was made after a virtual meeting between Prime Minister Modi and prominent doctors in the country. After the meeting, the Ministry of Health tweeted from its official handle, “Government of India today announced a Liberalised and Accelerated Phase 3 Strategy of #COVID19 #Vaccination from 1st May.”
The statement further continued, ” “Prime Minister said that the government has been working hard for over a year to ensure that maximum numbers of Indians can get the vaccine in the shortest possible time. He added that India is vaccinating people at a world record pace and we will continue this with even greater momentum,”.
India’s vaccination drive is currently in the second phase where frontline workers and all the citizens above the age of 45 are administered vaccines as a priority age group. India has been recently reporting more than 2,00,000 with 2,78, 810 cases on Monday reporting the highest number of cases in a single day. While 1,625 fatalities were reported, also marking the highest number of deaths in a single day. Many states in the country have imposed weekend lockdown and night curfew. Delhi government has announced 6 days complete lockdown till 26th April.
